LYNN SOLOWAY
Lynn Soloway’s wearable artworks are the result of the artist’s inventive imagination and creative intuition. Carnelian, amber, jade, jasper, garnet, pearl, coral, turquoise, lapis, sterling silver, vermeil, and other natural materials, many collected from tribal cultures, are incorporated into her lavishly evocative adornments.
This love for gems, plus a penchant for mixing the contradictory, satisfies Lynn’s fascination with jewelry and ethnic ornamentation. “I adore spectacular beads paired with fine metals. As I design in layers, the forms, textures, and hues interweave into opulent treasures. While traveling abroad, I search for individual components and then, in my studio, combine those elements into unique neckpieces, bracelets and earrings. My design process is always a wonderful, provocative, and mysterious experience.”
Drawing on the cultural heritages of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Native America, Ms. Soloway creates luxurious and truly one-of-a-kind designs for the fashion-forward collectors of exotic art-to-wear adornments.
Lynn Soloway brings superb credentials to her jewelry design. Her formal training as an artist includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University, and a Master of Arts degree and Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa. Since 1971, she has taught art courses at several universities.
