Michael D Holmquist

December 15, 1945 – April 21, 2026

Gallery 9 artist Mike Holmquist, 80, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, April 21st, 2026, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln. He was born on December 15th, 1945, in Oakland, Nebraska to David Anderson and Marilyn (Larson) Holmquist. Obituary.…

Mike joined Gallery 9 in August 2025 and his watercolor paintings brought joy and color to our co-op. He rediscovered a passion for watercolor painting late in life and had his first art show in March 2026.


ABOUT THE GALLERY

Founded in 1994, Gallery 9 is an independent cooperative gallery located in the historic Mission Arts Building. The gallery features solo, two-person, small group, and all-member shows throughout the year on a monthly schedule. A permanent group sales space allows constant visibility for members’ work.

THIS MONTH

Join us in May for a group show with Chicago roots featuring jewelry by Rose Kotwas and mixed media by Mike Rowe, Diane Staver, and Nancy Hagler-Vujovic. On display April 29-May 31.

COMING SOON

Our June show will feature mixed media by Vonni Sparks, acrylic paintings by Jan Lang, and ceramic sculptures by Ginny Freitag. On display June 3-28.
